People who collect guns should start to be viewed as the same type of weirdos who collect martial arts weapons at flea markets and think they are kung fu masters because they watch Bruce Lee movies.

If only they were as harmless.

A lot of people own multiple guns. Frankly, nothing is going to piss off people more than stigmatizing the owners.

And gun owners perhaps need to start feeling like cigarette smokers have been made to feel. Second-hand smoke kills a bit slower than bits of metal ejected at high-velocity from a gun barrel, but no one wants to be on the receiving end of either.

Someone who owns half a dozen hunting rifles is a lot different than someone who owns half a dozen assault guns. Conflating the two is not going to help.

I have to agree. I have a large gun collection, and I am open to some sort of sane regulation framework to keep guns away from disturbed individuals (licensing the owners and safety courses? mandatory safes or trigger locks? No more gun show sales?)

Calling me a weirdo isn't helping.

There are those who collect guns because they have paranoid fantasies of mowing down the 'others' during a fall of civilization scenario, and there are those who collect guns because they like guns and like shooting them. There's a huge difference between the two groups. It's really hard, if not impossible, for an outsider to tell the difference, though.
